Am yesterday, Sunday Now, the second PlayStation VR competitor – HTC Vive – has also revealed the price for its VR headset, which at $799 is the highest price so far.
This is Sony's chance to win the VR race, and they still have plenty of leeway in setting their own prices. According to industry analyst Michael Pachter, Sony could ruthlessly outmaneuver the competition and take the lead in the VR market with a price under $500.

Sony itself is still keeping quiet about official launch information for PlayStation VR, which is expected no earlier than the GDC in March. Whether the planned launch date in the first half of 2016 will be met is also currently uncertain, so we'll just have to wait and see.
