There is news about Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, the Persona spin-off in the Dynasty Warriors style: developer studio Atlus has released a trailer that shows real gameplay footage for the first time.

The video is in Japanese, so we can't say much about the story. However, what we do know is that the plot picks up some time after the end of Persona 5. So, in that sense, it's a sequel.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers However, this is not a classic Persona game, but rather a collaboration with Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, known for their Musou titles. One obvious difference from the main Persona games is the battle system: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers It focuses on real-time battles with a high density of opponents.

The trailer shows that we're not getting a simple reskin of the previous Warriors games with the Persona license. In fact, there are also gameplay elements from... 5 person Again: For example, there seems to be a day-night cycle and an internal calendar in which time progresses continuously. And: Unlike in many Warriors games, this time we don't just fight a series of battles, but even explore the game world in Persona style. How much depth the gameplay has remains to be seen, of course. But since developer Atlus is involved in the game, we're quite optimistic in this regard.

Finally, we now also know the release date: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers It will be released on February 20, 2020 – most likely in Japan first. The release in other countries might be delayed.
