Plantronics is introducing the Rig 4V5 today, one of the first audio headsets specifically optimized for PlayStation VR, which will be available alongside the launch in October.

The Rig 4V5 features 40mm drivers paired with low-frequency resonators, a detachable flip-to-mute boom, and noise cancellation for use with a DualShock 4 controller. Additionally, the headset is compatible with all accessories from the RIG 500 series and includes a 3,5mm jack for use with other platforms.

Comfort is crucial

The developers of the Rig 4V5 focused primarily on wearing comfort, as PlayStation VR already adds around 600 grams to the head, as Jack Reynolds, Director of Gaming Products, explains.

"At Plantronics, we work with various accessory and game developers to find audio solutions that are comfortable to wear while delivering the positional audio queues that are crucial for VR."

The Plantronics Rig 4V5 will be available starting this fall for a price of $119.
