Following the launch of the BETA for 'Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2' last week, the game has undergone its first performance test, which is particularly disappointing for Xbox One players.
The beta runs at 1080p on PlayStation 4, while the Xbox One version is stuck at 900p. Based on past experience, this likely won't change before the release in a few weeks, as seen with Star Wars: Battlefront and Battlefield: Hardline last year. The frame rate on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consistently fluctuates between 30 and 60fps, never dropping below that, though it seems to be slightly more stable on Xbox One, as the two videos (below) demonstrate.
In direct comparison to the PS4 version, the texture quality on Xbox One seems to lag somewhat, and more pop-in has been observed. However, this isn't ruled out as a bug that will be fixed before release, since it wasn't consistently present.
Anyone who wants to take a quick look at the BETA can do so until 19 pm tonight, when the testing phase officially ends.
