Only before few days Developers discussed the advantages of using the PS4 Pro in conjunction with PlayStation VR. This also applies to 'Playroom VR', where developers can choose between improved performance and more graphical detail.
Creative Director Nicolas Doucet This explains as follows:
"When you get close to an object (on a PS4), the angle will be a little rough, and without using a lot of technology, the resolution would be a little lower than we'd like. With the PS4 Pro, we can push it to the maximum. We tried both – 120fps or enhanced graphics (rendering solution), and we feel that the graphics-based approach was the right way to go, as the effects were immediately visible."
In short, graphical refinements make the differences much more apparent, while a higher frame rate, although noticeable, is nowhere near as impactful as better graphics. However, the situation is quite different for racing games, which would definitely benefit from a better frame rate.
PlayStation VR and Playroom VR will be available from October 13th.
