Will the PlayStation 5 be released earlier than expected? Admittedly, the launch of Microsoft's Project Scorpio could put Sony under some pressure, but first the console has to prove itself. Nevertheless, analysts believe that Sony could launch the PlayStation 5 as early as next year.

This is currently being said by Damian Thong, an analyst at Macquarie Capital Securities, who expects the PS5 to launch in the second half of 2018. While analysts are often wrong, Thong deserves credit for his accurate predictions regarding the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro. Will he be right again this time?

The basis for the assumption that the PS5, or whatever the console may be called, will be released so quickly is unknown. However, speculation is usually linked to Project Scorpio, which Sony certainly doesn't want to be lagging behind, at least not for very long.

Sony currently sees itself as very well positioned with the PS4 and PS4 Pro. according to his own statements They have not yet reached their peak. The company aims to sell another 18 million units this fiscal year alone, and does not expect sales figures to decline until next year.

There is no statement from Sony regarding the PlayStation 5 or this news, and one is unlikely to be forthcoming.
