Erst a few days ago It has been revealed that Sony is using PAL versions of some PlayStation Classic games, which are technically slightly inferior to the original NTSC versions. However, a secret menu provides a workaround.
The problem with the PAL versions is that they were originally output at 50Hz, while the original NTSC games ran at 60Hz, meaning they had a faster refresh rate. On the PSone, this resulted in slight flickering (frame drops) and black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
As resourceful users have now discovered, a kind of service menu can be opened using a connected keyboard, allowing for simple adjustments to various settings, including the frame rate limit and the option to disable CD audio. As usual, however, this is done at your own risk and may cause the PlayStation Classic to crash or even become unusable. For some, though, this could be the perfect solution, especially given the frequently criticized performance of games.
To access the secret service menu, simply connect a keyboard via USB and press the 'Escape' key. Everything else is demonstrated in the following video.
