Following the successful launch of PlayStation Direct in the USA last year, the service is now coming to Europe, as Sony has confirmed.

This means Sony is taking over the direct sales of hardware such as the PlayStation 5 and the new PlayStation VR headset itself. PlayStation Direct will be available in Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

Dazu Sony explains:

“PlayStation Direct has generated significant revenue in the US market in just over a year since its launch,” said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of SIE. “We are projecting further growth of 300 percent this fiscal year, supported by our upcoming launch in Europe.”

PlayStation Direct

The goal is to generate up to $600 million in revenue with PlayStation Direct in the current fiscal year, three times more than in the previous fiscal year. How this will affect PS5 sales and whether it might even disadvantage Sony's retail partners is currently unclear. Generally, however, these partners are not keen on customers going directly to the manufacturer.

Anyone who wants to take a look at PlayStation Direct can Do this in the US store, where to find PS5 consoles when available, controllers, headsets, exclusive offers and much more.
