Sony has announced the new PlayStation Plus games for the Essential tier. vorgestellt, which are available significantly later this time due to the inconvenient weekdays. All the more reason to be impressed.

The new PlayStation Plus games don't seem entirely altruistic, apparently intended to generate buzz for upcoming updates. Included in May are "EA Sports FC 24," "Ghostrunner 2," the indie adventure "Tunic," and "Destiny 2: Lightfall." These will be available on PlayStation Plus starting next Tuesday.

PlayStation Plus: May 2024 Overview

Not much more needs to be said about "EA Sports FC 24". The focus is currently on the Team of the Season, which regularly unites various leagues to experience special tournaments. Women's football kicked things off this year, and it appears the Bundesliga will be next. A leak has already revealed some initial details.

"Destiny 2: Lightfall" is also a familiar title, heading towards its next major story expansion in June. With the PlayStation Plus release, Bungie and Sony aim to attract new players before "Destiny 2: The Final Form" arrives in June. This final installment represents the climax of the saga of Light and Darkness, which is why Guardians have already prepared for a pivotal moment: the battle against the Witness!

PlayStation Plus in May brings four new games

Cyberpunk meets parkour, or something like that. That's what "Ghostrunner 2" offers (our review), the sequel to the first-person slasher, set one year after the events of "Ghostrunner." Here, players explore a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future following the fall of the Keymaster, the tyrant of Dharma Tower and humanity's last refuge. Jack is back and confronts the cult of violent AI outside Dharma Tower to fight for the future of humanity.

The final title is "Tunic," an enchanting adventure set in a land of lost legends, ancient powers, and fearsome monsters. In it, players meet a little fox who embarks on a grand adventure. He finds himself in a strange land with nothing but his curiosity, which he uses to confront enormous beasts, collect strange and powerful objects, and uncover long-lost secrets.

All four players will be available on PlayStation Plus Essentials starting next Tuesday. At the same time, the [previous option] will disappear. current PS Plus line-up, consisting of “Immortals of Aveum”, “Minecraft Legends” and “Skul: The Hero Slayer”.

@ Cheese and Franz:
FC 24 (effectively FIFA) is effectively the Call of Duty of sports games and the de facto standard for football games. I've already praised Tunic below, and it's a game I can recommend to everyone.
I'm also looking forward to Ghostrunner II, as I found the first part quite entertaining and cool.
I only played the base game of Destiny 2. The update certainly offers many new features, but if you don't keep up with live service games, you miss out on a lot, and getting into them can be difficult. And if you do keep up, you'll already have the DLC anyway.

There won't be an objectively strong lineup, since tastes vary. For example, I don't care about football games or shooters. But I loved Tunic. You might think Tunic is absolutely terrible and unnecessary. The games have an average Metacritic score of just under 77,25 points – led by Tunic with 85 ;P

A really weak lineup this time.
Well, at least the months before that were strong.

Where is the strong lineup?
I don't see one anywhere here.

I completed Tunic on Game Pass and waited until it was also released on PS+ to get the Platinum trophy there as well (finally a game that doesn't appear on PS+ after I've bought it!).

I can wholeheartedly recommend Tunic to everyone! And please, no spoilers! It has a truly excellent game mechanic (keyword: tutorial) that's a wonderful homage to classic games. The game itself is also more challenging than it might initially appear. It's more of a puzzle game than an action-adventure.
