On May 19, Sony will integrate a total of eight new titles into the game catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, including the open-world blockbuster "Star Wars Outlaws" and the returning "Red Dead Redemption 2".
Starting next week, subscribers in higher price tiers will gain access to a mix of current AAA titles, indie games, and an arcade classic. While PlayStation Plus Extra users will primarily receive current titles, the premium tier will be complemented by the light gun pioneer "Time Crisis."
Star Wars Outlaws and Rockstar epic as major draws
The addition of "Star Wars Outlaws" to PlayStation Plus marks a strategically significant moment. Ubisoft's game is the first true open-world title in the franchise and arrives on the subscription service relatively soon after its release. Players take on the role of Kay Vess, a departure from the Jedi-centric themes of other installments. The focus is on stealth, syndicate reputation, and dogfights in space.
Meanwhile, "Red Dead Redemption 2" returns to the catalog. Rockstar Games' epic still sets technical standards for open-world interaction and lighting, but on the PS5 it continues to run in PS4 backward compatibility mode without a dedicated 60 FPS update. Anyone who has missed out on the title so far can get the complete package here, including Red Dead Online.
New Soulslike games and adventure classics
For fans of challenging combat, Sony offers two titles: "Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn" and "Enotria: The Last Song." Flintlock blends classic Souls mechanics with firearms and magic, while Enotria sets itself apart with its Italian setting and mask system that allows for on-the-fly class changes.
Beyond the action, "Broken Sword – Shadows of the Templar: Reforged" offers a technically remastered version of the point-and-click classic. The graphics have been optimized for 4K displays without compromising the core of the 1996 original. "The Thaumaturge" completes the lineup with a tactical role-playing game set in early 20th-century Warsaw, distinguished primarily by its historical setting and the design of the "Salutor" demons.
The highlights:
- Star Wars Outlaws (PS5) – Open-world action set in the criminal underworld
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4) – Epic Western adventure from Rockstar Games
- Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn (PS5) – Souls-lite mix of magic and firearms
- Broken Sword – Shadows of the Templar: Reforged (PS5) – Classic adventure game in 4K visuals
Premium users receive the Arcade Icon
The exclusive one Growth for the premium tier It's "Time Crisis." The Namco classic was ported from the original PlayStation version. Technically, the implementation of gyro controls for the DualSense controllers is interesting, as the original light gun hardware no longer works on modern flat-screen TVs. The cover system remains unchanged and defines the gameplay.
The May update offers a solid number of titles, but its quality is exceptionally strong, thanks in large part to Star Wars Outlaws. For PS5 owners, the added value of Flintlock and Enotria is significant, as both titles utilize modern hardware features. The return of Red Dead Redemption 2 is a welcome addition for new customers, but offers little new content for existing ones. The integration of Time Crisis with gyro support is a technically sound solution to an old hardware issue.
