Final Fantasy XVI, Sonic X: Shadow Generations, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance lead the new lineup for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in June. Sony is packing some real heavyweights into the subscription service this month, but the releases are being staggered extremely differently depending on the region.
While US players can start playing Sonic today, we in Europe will have to wait until the middle of the month for most of the top titles. At least everyone will eventually get full access.
Medieval upgrade and fresh timeline interfaces
Sony is pulling out all the stops in June.Final Fantasy XVI“Leaving the exclusive purchase barrier and landing entirely within the service. Clive Rosfield's dark revenge story breaks with old RPG virtues and fully embraces bombastic real-time action. This has done the series good. Anyone who has missed it so far now has the perfect opportunity at no extra cost.”
The catch is in the fine print of the announcement. Sony is experimenting with staggered release dates in select markets. While Sonic X Shadow Generations is an immediate hit in the US and UK, the full version won't arrive for the rest of the world until June 16th. A frustrating waiting game for European fans.
Those looking to bridge the waiting time will get a massive technical upgrade with the PS5 version of "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" starting June 23rd. 4K resolution and crisper textures promise to make Bohemia more beautiful than ever before. Henry's bumpy road from blacksmith's son to warrior remains brutally challenging. The game doesn't forgive mistakes. Simultaneously, "Life is Strange: Double Exposure" launches, the next adventure chapter for Max Caulfield, who this time investigates between two parallel realities.

The rest of the party and a PS2 classic
At the end of the month, on June 30th, "Farming Simulator 25," the combat system heavyweight "Blades of Fire," and the MMORPG "Black Desert" will be released. Premium subscribers will also receive a real nostalgia bonus: the PS2 rhythm game Gitaroo Man will make its debut on PS4 and PS5. Quirky Japanese visuals meet a fantastic soundtrack. A treat for collectors of eccentric classics.
The June catalog is packed with quality. "Final Fantasy XVI" and the technically enhanced Kingdom Come alone are worth the subscription price. However, the new release policy with regional delays leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Why Sony is making Europe wait remains incomprehensible. The lineup is still impressive, though.
Which title will you download first on June 16th – are you betting on the dark Eikon spectacle of Final Fantasy XVI or are you waiting for the next-gen Bohemia in Kingdom Come?
