Almost traditionally, a new PlayStation State of Play is expected in February, and the date has now been narrowed down. According to insider sources, Sony is planning a new State of Play presentation for the week starting on [date missing]. 10. February – Just in time for Valentine's Day? The rumors come from the well-known gaming insider “NatetheHate“, which often provides accurate advance information about the gaming industry. However, official confirmation from Sony is still pending.
What could Sony show?
Traditionally, Sony uses its first State of Play-issues of the year to present upcoming highlights for the next few months. Last year, the January issue, among other things, offered deeper insights into Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronins.
PlayStation currently has several major projects in the pipeline, including Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei from Sucker Punch, which are scheduled for release in 2025. Also Marvel's Wolverine and Fairgame$ We're still waiting for an official release window. Perhaps there will be new information about this in the upcoming stream. Overall, it will likely be another mix of first-party and numerous third-party titles, with Sony under considerable pressure to finally reveal what fans can actually look forward to this year.
Microsoft recently had its Xbox Developer Direct Four exciting games for 2025 were presented, including DOOM: The Dark Ages, south of midnight and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33The show impressed with a detailed presentation of each title, while another rapid-fire avalanche of games is expected at State of Play – which not entirely without criticism at a hunt.
If the State of Play event does indeed take place in February, fans can expect some exciting news. The only question that remains is: Will there be a genuine declaration of love for the PlayStation community on Valentine's Day – or will it be a disappointment?
Whether the promotional events will be successful depends on the titles. Personally, I'm completely jaded; I'm only interested in third-party games anymore, especially Capcom, and they have their own showcase.
