It's no secret that PlayStation VR is used in far more areas than just games. Even NASA now uses Sony's technology for training purposes.
The humanoid robot Robonaut 2 was specifically developed for this purpose. It features arms, hands, and fingers and is controlled via PlayStation VR. This makes operation significantly more intuitive than with a simple joystick and allows for control over long distances.
A demo video shows a simulated space station where the robot can be controlled using PlayStation VR and PlayStation Move. The only current obstacle seems to be the input delay, which has been artificially introduced into the demo. It will likely only be a few years before the technology is used in real-world applications.
Microsoft, on the other hand, is already using its HoloLens display in space, with the first developer kits arriving on the ISS a few days ago. Exactly how HoloLens will be used there is still unclear.
