Sony's PlayStation VR will also support non-VR games/features in some form, as revealed by Sony's Shuhei Yoshida in a discussion panel.

Since PlayStation VR is a rather expensive accessory and the initial game selection is limited, using it for purposes other than just VR games would certainly be worthwhile. When asked whether the headset also utilizes other PS4 features, said Yoshida:

"The hardware team has done a thorough job, but the software team is still working hard on these system features. That's why we're not yet showing the system interface or the non-VR gaming experience."

It may also be possible to use PlayStation VR as a normal display, similar to Sony's HMZ series, resulting in sitting in front of a 150-inch screen, comparable to a cinema.

What Sony is actually planning here will only be revealed in the future.
