Shortly before the release of the sandbox title 'Portal Knights' by 505 Games, a free trial version will be released, as the publisher announced today.
This means you can get a look at the single-player and 2-player split-screen modes before the release, learn the basics of combat and crafting, and much more. If you later decide to purchase the game, your existing save game will be transferred, allowing you to continue playing exactly where you left off in the demo.
The features of the demo
- Create your own hero: Choose a class – ranger, mage, or warrior – and customize your avatar's appearance with a powerful editor. Explore the leveling and skill system to forge a unique portal knight and assign them an animal companion to aid them on their adventure.
- Learn the basics of Portal Knights: Hone your tactical combat skills by facing fearsome blobs by day, while deadly shadow knights emerge at night. Utilize the deep crafting system and use mined resources to create new gear and armor pieces. Take your first steps toward a cozy, stately castle by renovating your dilapidated farmhouse and cultivating crops. Explore the island and discover a dungeon filled with skeletons and treasure as you search for portal shards to unlock the gateway to the next island. Onward, adventurers!
- Experience your adventure solo or with friends: In the trial version, you can play the game in both single-player and offline cooperative modes for two players on a split screen. Build structures together on the first island, explore dungeons, defeat monsters, complete quests, and trade items.
- Transferring game progress to the full version: The save data from the free trial version can be transferred to the full version upon release, allowing you to continue your adventure right where you left off!
Portal Knights will also no longer be released this April as planned, but on May 18, 2017. The additional time will be used for polishing the game.
