Circle 5 Publishing will release the asymmetrical multiplayer shooter "Primal Carnage: Evolution" on May 28, 2026 for PlayStation 4 and PS5, bundling all previous PC content including technical optimizations.
The developer is breaking with the previous tradition of outsourcing console ports and is handling the development of the Evolution variant entirely in-house for the first time. The goal is to bring all the content updates from the PC version (Primal Carnage: Extinction), which have been refined over a decade, to the console in one go.
Humans versus prehistoric giants: The gameplay basis
The gameplay continues to focus on asymmetrical PvP battles, where up to 16 players compete online in five different game modes. These include classic modes such as Team Deathmatch, Evacuation, and a Sandbox mode.
The factions are strictly divided:
- Mercenary: Act from a first-person perspective and utilize an expanded arsenal of weapons, ranging from dual SMGs and heavy sniper rifles to traps and mines.
- Dinosaur: They are controlled from a third-person perspective. The roster of twelve playable lizards is expanded on consoles with new additions such as the Pachycephalosaurus and the Ceratosaurus.
In addition, the studio is integrating a new skill system, an in-game announcer system, and over 200 collectible lore documents that shed light on the backstory of the dinosaurs' resurrection on the islands. The entire progression system has been tied to new trophies, the unlocking of which generates purely cosmetic rewards.
"Primal Carnage: Evolution“This isn't a completely new game, but rather the long-overdue collection of an aging multiplayer concept. The financial advantage for buyers is obvious: since all 150+ DLCs from the predecessor are included for free in the base game, the paywall for cosmetics is eliminated.
Those who played the title ten years ago on the PS4 will find a smoothly performing, content-complete version with a stable 60 frames per second on the PS5. However, despite the name, don't expect any graphical leaps.
