Although the new generation of virtual reality headsets still has to prove itself, Sony remains confident that VR represents the future of gaming.

This was further emphasized by CEO & President Kaz Hirai at the currently ongoing IFA in Berlin. Project Morpheus is not only innovative, but will also push the boundaries of gaming and connect people.

"Project Morpheus is, simply put, a significant innovation that showcases the future of gaming and pushes the boundaries of gaming further," said Hirai. "It achieves a sense of presence that goes beyond conventional gameplay and leads into worlds of unprecedented depth and perception. We're talking about 360° experiences, something completely different from anything you've experienced before."

The focus is also on social experiences, as it goes on to say, by sharing them with others, playing together or in online multiplayer.

"It is something completely different from anything else one has experienced before," That concludes.

Anyone currently at IFA in Berlin can try out Project Morpheus on-site. The VR headset itself will be released in 2016.
