SEGA has officially announced 'Project Sakura Wars' for PlayStation 4, which will also be released in Europe in 2020. This is a dramatic 3D action-adventure game known in Japan as Shin Sakura Taisen.

The announcement describes it as a cultural phenomenon in Japan. The long-running series defined the JRPG/romance genre with its memorable characters, excellent writing, and sublime music.

Project Sakura Wars is set in a romanticized version of 1940s Imperial Tokyo. Ten years ago, a cataclysmic event led to the devastating loss of the Imperial Combat Revue of Tokyo, the capital's global defense force, which operated out of the Imperial Theatre. The theatre has since fallen on hard times and is on the verge of closing. As captain of the new Tokyo Revue, it's up to you to rekindle the spirits of your troops and restore the Imperial Theatre to its former glory. With its focus on character-driven storytelling and relationship building, fans are sure to love Project Sakura Wars.

Project Sakura Wars will support the original Japanese voiceover, with subtitles in German, English, French and Spanish.
