Media Create has released a graphic on handheld sales figures in Japan, showing that the 3G version is apparently performing better than previously thought.
In the first three weeks after its launch, the 3G model even outsold the Wi-Fi version, then sales remained roughly equal, and only after that was it slightly overtaken. Up until now, it seemed as if the 3G version was languishing on store shelves and could only be sold through numerous promotional campaigns.

The PSP still sells better than both versions combined. Presumably, the Japanese are waiting for a real hit like Monster Hunter before they'll buy the PS Vita.
