If Sony's new CEO, Kazuo Hirai, has his way, the specially developed operating system for the PS Vita could soon be found on smartphones.
Currently, Sony is using Android, but according to Hirai, the PS Vita operating system was designed to be used for applications beyond the handheld. Apps like Facebook, Twitter, and others already run on it, so further development wouldn't be a problem.
Sony's own PlayStation-certified smartphones, in particular, would certainly benefit from this and ensure seamless integration with the PlayStation Network.
