Microsoft still doesn't seem to be getting anywhere with the Xbox One, even though with the latest revision, the Xbox One X, they currently have the most powerful hardware on the market.
Since hardware doesn't sell itself, and software is often the driving force, it seems only logical that manufacturers need to focus their efforts there. Exclusive titles are the most valuable, and Sony was far ahead in this area last year, recording a 6.6 percent increase. Microsoft, on the other hand, continues to lose ground, experiencing a decline of 11.1 percent. In terms of sheer number, the figures for 2017 were 103 and 67 exclusive titles, respectively.
Some of the PS4 highlights of the past year were Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, Nioh, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Gran Turismo Sport, all of which sold exceptionally well according to data from GFK Charttrack. Furthermore, Sony has launched PlayStation VR, a platform and additional exclusive games that Microsoft cannot even compete with, as it lacks VR support.
To be fair, it must also be said that the Xbox One X will only really get going this year and a few good exclusive titles are to be expected on it, as well as on the PS4 with Death Stranding, Days Gone or God of War, to name just a few.
