Today Sony gave a first look on the PS5 user experience (PS5 UX) delivers a pleasant surprise after much speculation. Not only are the features impressive, but the speed is also a fundamental part of this new experience.

This is only possible because hardware and software complement each other better than ever before, promising a true next-gen experience. This was stated by SIE's Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform and Planning Management. compared to Digital Foundry.

“With the PS5 user experience, we’re rethinking how the game interacts with the hardware and network to deliver a true next-generation experience. The UX is completely focused on the player, connecting them to the gameplay – and a passionate community of players. That’s the philosophy. We’ve been working on this for the past few years, coming together as a single team in London, the US, and Tokyo. We’re excited to finally show you the result.”

Furthermore, game developers are given individual options to further enhance the user experience or tailor it to their games. For example, they can provide specific data from their games, which the UX system then uses, such as in the presented card system or the help function. This can be compared to metadata that communicates in the background between the game and the UX system.

Digital Foundry refers to this approach as “truly innovative"because developers will be able to help determine what the UX experience for their game will be like in the future."

The PS5 will be released in this country on November 19, 2020.
