Although there will be more consoles than ever before at the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the demand is so enormous that Sony and Microsoft probably won't be able to keep up.

Suppliers like AMD are apparently also partly to blame, as they are unable to provide enough components, according to a report in the Japanese magazine Commercial Times. While production and thus the overall situation, particularly regarding chip yield, will improve by the end of the year, it will still be far too little to produce the PS5 and XSX in reasonable quantities.

Bottlenecks until 2021

The enormous pressure AMD is currently under to deliver enough APUs will inevitably lead to shortages for the PS5 and XSX, according to estimates. until mid-2021 This will continue. That would create a similar scenario to the PS4 launch. Back then, it also took a good six months before the console was available for regular purchase.

That there is actually some truth to the report is shown in particular by the rush for pre-orders the PS5, which sold out within minutes. Also the Xbox Series X It sold out quite quickly on Tuesday, even though Microsoft had previously said there was enough for everyone – apparently that's not the case. Microsoft apparently only intends to make the new console available at launch on November 10th.

Until then, one should wait for updates from the various retailers, who will certainly be allocated more pre-order units. The PS5 should be available for pre-order again in the next few days, as was recently reported.
