Rainbow Six Siege – Free Maps & DLC Plan Revealed

Ubisoft wants to support its upcoming tactical shooter 'Rainbow Six Siege' in the long term and has presented concrete plans for this today.

The official website for the game states: “A select team of 80 people will take fan feedback to heart and monitor gameplay statistics. This ensures that we always offer the best possible player experience and also create opportunities for the growth of the community and the game. The Operator system, as well as the multiplayer and Terrorist Hunt game modes, are designed to meet and expand upon the demands of an evolving game.”

The post-launch support will cover a full year and four seasons, with the emphasis that there will be no paywall. The plan is detailed as follows:

"Maps and modes will be free and available to everyone immediately. New Operator and weapon skins can be unlocked with the currency 'Reputation' or with R6 Credits (more on that below). The only new content that will only be available through purchase will be a small number of premium weapon skins, purely for aesthetic purposes and with no impact on gameplay. For a competitive multiplayer game, it's essential that the community isn't divided or that 'pay-to-win' mechanics aren't introduced. We hope that this approach will help keep our community united and engaged for the long haul."
