Yesterday, Tuesday, 2K Games and Rockstar finally moved closer together. with the announcement from 'Red Dead Redemption', which is now also receiving initial feedback from analysts.

Despite the existing hype surrounding the game, market observers like our friend Michael Pachter not assumingthat the title will be even remotely as big and successful as, for example, 'GTA V'. The Wild West open-world title is only expected to sell around 20 million copies. But he also admits that he has been wrong about his predictions before, and that this time it might be the same.

"What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't underestimate Rockstar's talent. They're really good. Their games are really interesting, well-designed, fun to play, and beautiful, so of course they appeal to a large audience. But I think if you compare the gameplay, the story, and the fan interest in a series like Red Dead, it's more comparable to Fallout, which is also super interesting and well-made, but it's not as big as Call of Duty, for example."

Many things that exist in GTA V are simply not feasible in Red Dead due to its setting, thus significantly diminishing its appeal. Pachter therefore anticipates perhaps half the sales figures of GTA V and would be surprised if the title were to break the 40 million mark. It will definitely not be the best-selling title of all time.

The trailer premiere for Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, which you can then follow here with us.
