Rockstar is now fully aware that 'Red Dead Redemption 2' will likely not achieve the same level of success as 'GTA V'. Nevertheless, they don't want to use this as an excuse to try and squeeze every last drop of potential out of the title.

Like Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explainedThe publisher isn't yet committing to a specific financing model for the game, be it Games as a Service, single-player support, or multiplayer. The primary focus is on player entertainment, not monetization, even though GTA V has been very successful with monetization. The initial goal is to provide the best possible entertainment, captivating players and keeping them engaged for a long time. Once this has been achieved, further support and content will be considered, which would then automatically generate financial returns for the publisher.

However, looking back at GTA V, these intentions can quickly change. The planned single-player content for GTA V never materialized, as GTA Online ultimately proved more successful and profitable for the publisher. Therefore, it remains to be seen how Red Dead Redemption 2 will ultimately develop and what Take-Two believes is best for their business.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26, 2018.
