THQ recently announced a companion film to Red Faction: Armageddon. The first details have now been released.

The film is called "Red Faction: Origins" and will be a two-hour live-action pilot film, released in March 2011. The story revolves around the rebel and hero Alec Mason and his family. The film is set between the events of "Red Faction: Guerrilla" and "Red Faction: Armageddon".

Twenty-five years have passed since Alec Mason led the Martian colonies to freedom… and ten years since his wife was killed, his daughter Lyra kidnapped, and a broken hero left behind.

Jake Mason, Alec's last surviving son and a ranger in the Red Faction militia, never gave up hope that his sister was still alive somewhere in the harsh Martian outlands. After finding her, he learns that his long-lost sister has conspired with the soldiers who want to destroy the Red Faction and conquer the planet in the name of a madman. Jake now wages a relentless battle against the regime, hoping to somehow reunite his family away from the war.

The screenplay was written by writer and producer Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13, Fringe, Vampire Diaries, and Boston Legal) and is based on a story by THQ's Paul DeMeo (The Rocketeer, Flash, Viper, The Sentinel). Red Faction: Origins is produced by Universal Cable Productions.
