Remember Me was one of our surprise hits last year, developed by the French developer DontNod Entertainment.

Unfortunately, the game wasn't universally well-received by critics, resulting in sales figures that fell short of publisher Capcom's expectations. This is now apparently also affecting the developer itself, according to several French media outlets. postsIncluding the financial portal Societe, DontNod filed for bankruptcy this morning and will now be managed by a legal representative.

Whether this means the end for DontNod or not will only become clear in the coming weeks.

(Update)

As IGN reports, DontNod's CEO Oskar Guilbert denied that his own studio was in insolvency proceedings and issued the following statement:

“We are currently undergoing what is known in France as ‘judicial restructuring,’ which allows us to adapt our production pipeline to the new situation. As you know, we developed a game called Remember Me for Capcom, which was released last June. I think it’s important to mention that this game is number two in PlayStation Plus downloads in Europe, so at least on the digital side, it’s been a great success.”

Furthermore, the company stated that it is currently working on new projects that require additional investors. It also mentioned that it is in negotiations with a "top publisher," but declined to comment further at this time.
