Capcom is apparently planning the future of the Resident Evil series years in advance, as recently reported. New details from insider Dusk Golem now specify the release windows for the "Resident Evil 9" DLCs, the "Code: Veronica Remake," and the tenth main installment of the series.

According to available information, the next major project in the Resident Evil universe is the remake of "Resident Evil Code: Veronica." An official reveal is expected sometime in 2026, with a market launch targeted for 2027.

A remake of "Resident Evil Zero," which has been repeatedly mentioned in recent days, is slated for release in 2028. Contrary to persistent speculation, a remake of "Resident Evil 5" is explicitly not currently in development.

The roadmap for the main series and Resident Evil 10

An expansion for the current ninth installment of the series is in development. However, reports of two separate add-ons are inaccurate; details regarding scope and release date are still pending. Long-term... the development of Resident Evil 10 But it has already started. Patience is required here: The internal target for release is 2029, although delays up to 2031 due to fluctuations in development are explicitly factored in.

Another remake of the first "Resident Evil" is also reportedly in early pre-production. However, given its current status, a release is not expected for at least four to seven years.

The fact that such projects don't necessarily see the light of day is demonstrated by the list of canceled titles from recent years. According to the source, this includes a game featuring the character HUNK, a Resident Evil Revelations 3 approach with Rebecca Chambers, and a multiplayer version of Resident Evil 9.

As is often the case, this information is based on unconfirmed insider sources. If the dates hold true, users can expect annual releases: 2027 (Code: Veronica), 2028 (Zero), and 2029 (RE10). Technically, it remains to be seen how Capcom will further develop the RE Engine for the upcoming console generations and the late release cycle of "Resident Evil 10."

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017).
Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019).
Resident Evil 3 Remake (2020).
Resident Evil Village (2021).
Resident Evil 4 Remake (2023).
Resident Evil: Requiem (February 2026)
So, two years is also possible. If the DLC is as extensive as Separate Ways for Remake 4 plus Mercenaries Mode, I can easily imagine Code Veronica being delayed for a year. But March 22nd is the 30th anniversary; maybe Capcom will shine a spotlight, then we'll know more. I'm taking a break from Requiem for now; I've already done 10 runs, you get desensitized over time.
