It's a back and forth with Resident Evil 9The game, which was supposedly going to be announced soon, was then internally postponed, then postponed again, and is now slated for a significantly later release. However, two other remakes, long awaited by fans, are expected to be released.

This is what almost always the same source claims. Dark Golem, who initially himself a shift of Resident Evil 9 The game was initially released but then quickly backtracked. Now, it appears the game has been internally delayed again and will be released much later, in 2025/26. Furthermore, no announcement is expected anytime soon, contrary to recent speculations about the PlayStation Showcase or Summer Game Fest.

In an update, the insider writes today:

"F*ck, I've decided to be the one to burst the bubble in a bigger way regarding what's going on with the Resident Evil stuff. First of all, I want to shatter expectations that RE9 will be announced this summer. The initial murmurs I heard, and the announcement of RE9, I now truly believe they're accurate and further away than this coming summer. Sorry for the back and forth, that's my fault. RE9 is being pushed back to late 2025/2026."

Unfortunately, the insider rarely provides details on the basis of their statements, leaving them as they are or correcting themselves later, as in this case. Therefore, we must consider this all as rumors and simply wait until Capcom comments.

Resident Evil Zero & Code Veronica remakes are coming.

Elsewhere, the insider addresses the recurring remakes, initially speculated to be parts 5 and 6 of the series. These are apparently not coming, or at least not yet; instead, Capcom is said to be working on remakes of... Resident evil zero and Veronica Code work. The team behind it is reportedly from Resident Evil 3At the same time, he denies the rumors surrounding the the remake of Resident Evil 1, which recently made the rounds.

"Resident Evil 1 remake rumors are nonsense. As far as I know, RE:1 isn't even in development right now. Resident Evil 5 isn't actively in development either. But it was funny to see. [...] A remake of Resident Evil Zero & Code Veronica is currently in development. I was talking about it behind the scenes with a lot of people at the time. It's something I heard over a year ago, and I thought it would come out, whether I was the one who said it or not, and that was that."

There is currently nothing concrete about any of these games, only many uncertainties and assumptions, meaning that for now, all of this remains a rumor.

[UpdateThe retailer Play-Asia has now listed several new Resident Evil games, including... Resident Evil 9: Revenant Shadows, Resident evil zero and Veronica Code, which may support the current rumors, but is not yet confirmed.

Well, I'm curious to see if they'll celebrate their 30th anniversary without a Resident Evil 1 remake. Only Capcom would dare to do something like that. Anyway, I'll take the other Resident Evil games too.

The rowing season has begun. So what Golem is spouting makes absolutely no sense. In 2026, Resident Evil will be 30 years old, so there has to be a remake of the first game. Zero is the worst-selling Resident Evil game among the main titles, so prioritizing the remake over the first one makes no sense. Actually, Zero could be treated as DLC for the first game's remake, in a separate way. A Resident Evil 5 remake only makes sense if Veronica Wesker has been established as the antagonist in the first game and Codex. That's why his statements are nonsensical.
