These are of course not confirmed facts, but rather information from sources who have been correct more often in the past. As long as Capcom remains silent, it will naturally remain a rumor, albeit one with some substance.
Claire is the focus, but without sacrificing Chris.
The alleged creative direction is particularly interesting. Claire Redfield is to be clearly positioned as the main character. This makes sense, because Resident Evil: Code: Veronica Claire's story was always stronger than that of many other spin-offs. At the same time, Chris Redfield is not to be sidelined. Instead, Capcom seems to be meaningfully intertwining both characters.
This aligns with Capcom's recent remake philosophy, which involves respecting familiar content but condensing and modernizing the narrative. If this is true, it could Resident Evil - Code: Veronica Finally getting the attention it deserved 25 years ago.
It remains unclear how far Capcom intends to go. A mere graphics update would be insufficient. A complete remake based on the original game is expected. RE-Engine, including modern controls, revamped areas, and a clearer storyline. The original was considered cumbersome, occasionally unfair, atmospheric, but not always polished in terms of gameplay.
It remains to be seen how the remake will tonally position itself between classic survival horror and modern action. Capcom needs to strike a good balance here.
A Resident Evil - Code: Veronica Remake It wouldn't be a nostalgia project, but a genuine way to fill a gap in the series. Capcom has the know-how, no question. The fans' dream is rather that Leon finally gets Ada, impregnates her, and his son is then the main character for the next 20 years.
That would be the best way... the best Capcom!
Hope Claire in Resi 11 dan
I'm currently playing the original for the first time, and what can I say? Capcom can only win with a remake, especially in terms of graphics and controls. As for the plot and character design, it goes without saying that they'll improve those as well, so I'm not worried. The only annoying thing is the wait for all the remakes to come out. I think some people aren't aware of it, but at least one Resident Evil game is released every year in some form or another, plus new IPs, sequels to other games, or remakes. Other publishers could learn a thing or two from that.
The rumors have been circulating since 2023, and it just keeps getting postponed! Always another year.
Gregor Miller: I don't think it will be too long; we can certainly hope for an announcement after the release of Resident Evil 9.
