Capcom's story DLC for "Resident Evil Requiem" is not expected to be released until the second half of 2027. This was reported by the well-known insider Dusk Golem, whose leaks about the horror series have regularly proven accurate in the past.
The expansion for the current main game will have to wait its turn. Capcom's usual tactic
For us players, this is a tough test of patience, but the tactic isn't surprising. Capcom has used this pattern before. With "Resident Evil Village," it took almost a year and a half from its release in May 2021 until the "Shadows of Rose" DLC in October 2022.
With "Resident Evil Requiem," the gap is widening due to the development of the remake. Capcom is focusing its marketing machine entirely on the next big standalone game. Only once "Resident Evil Veronica" is finished and on the market will the DLC take center stage.
The news dampens the immediate excitement, but makes strategic sense. Dusk Golem is considered an absolutely reliable source for Capcom projects. The fact that the DLC is arriving so late at least prevents it from being overshadowed by the highly anticipated Code Veronica remake. It's already been disproven; the DLC is coming at the end of this year. It's a translation error. However, there are rumors that Veronica and Requiem should have been released long ago, and Zero should be coming next year. Since M2, the studio responsible for the Resident Evil 3 remake and Separate Ways, is having development problems, the order has been changed. Ultimately, I don't care as long as we get a new Resident Evil game or new content every year. Besides, it's a good opportunity to offer an extensive Mercenaries mode to help bridge the waiting time.
