While many players are currently running their feet sore in the demo of 'Resident Evil 7', which has been available since Tuesday in the PlayStation Store While it is available, Capcom has also released some new information about the actual game, which will be released in January 2017.
The setting is particularly important, as is the time period, which, according to Capcom, is set a few years after Resident Evil 6. The setting is a plantation in rural America, reminiscent of the atmosphere of American horror films from the 1970s and 1980s. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre immediately springs to mind.
Director Nakanishi Koushi adds the following:
“A house far out in the countryside, surrounded by fields or in the middle of nowhere, where you can't call on anyone for help. It feels so helpless and isolated. I love that atmosphere. That was one of the main reasons we chose the southern United States as the setting for the game.”
It was also mentioned again that the house from the demo will not be in the final game, nor will the characters from it. More information about this will be released in the coming months.
Finally, it is confirmed that Resident Evil 7 will be a purely single-player experience that can be enjoyed on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR.
The game will be released on January 24, 2017.
