The launch of 'Resident Evil 7' in January was extremely successful with over 3 million copies shipped, meaning the development costs for the horror title have already been recouped.

While a slower pace compared to its predecessor can be observed, the company expects to reach its long-term target of 4 million units sold this fiscal year. This was announced in the current quarterly report. schreibt the publisher:

“Compared to Resident Evil 6, this may seem like a slower initial launch, but this can be attributed to the recent introduction of digital downloads and the transition from a sharp initial phase of game sales to long-term continuity. We still believe our fiscal year target of 4 million units for this title is achievable, as we anticipate long-term sales figures based on the extremely positive post-launch reviews from the media and players.”

Even though the initial hype surrounding Resident Evil 7 has subsided somewhat, the title is being kept alive these days and will continue to be in the future. The second official DLC was just released. erschienen, followed by a story expansion, which will follow in spring 2017.
