Risen 2: Dark Waters – Only available with a censored cover in the USA

The somewhat questionable guidelines in the USA regarding the design of a game cover are once again something to chuckle about.

After Dead Island was censored, Risen 2: Dark Waters is now also being targeted. Incidentally, it's the same publisher as Dead Island. The original cover features a red bloodstain behind the pirate's head, which has been replaced in the US with a subtle blue one, making it barely distinguishable from the background.

According to a spokesperson, this is more in line with the ESRB guidelines. And this in a country where violence in video games is tolerated more than anything else.

We will continue to ship the game with the original cover.
