Everyone eagerly awaited the Silent Hill 2 gameplay reveal This week, Konami is aiming to bring the series back in a big way. Perhaps they should just leave it alone, though, because the disappointment with the remake is already huge.
The Silent Hill 2 Remake It is currently being developed by Bloober Team, who certainly have experience in the horror genre. However, their execution has so far fallen short of reaching the very top tier, as seen recently. The Medium, The Blair Witch Project, Layers of Fear. Silent Hill 2 This could be the next project that fails to live up to high expectations.
The Silent Hill remake still needs a lot of work.
The reactions to the gameplay reveal are clear: so far, it hasn't really convinced. Atmospherically, it seems to offer a lot and perfectly captures the Silent Hill style, but on the other hand, the game feels outdated and out of touch. That's precisely what shouldn't happen when it's being developed from the ground up.
A user schreibt below the gameplay reveal:
"There are a lot of bad things. It's my favorite game and I'm really disappointed by the trailer. The weapons sound like toys, the green blood... I don't know. We've waited so long and there's still no release date. For people who are disappointed because they don't have a release date... look at how it looks? It's better not to have it soon because they still have a lot to improve."
One of the main criticisms is the overall look, which Silent Hill 2 It doesn't feel like a PS5 exclusive. While it might still be a good game based on what we've seen so far, it raises serious concerns that this reboot of the series will be a flop. Among other things, there's suspicion that Konami might not be providing enough financial resources to develop a top-notch game.
Positive comments about the gameplay, however, are few and far between, though they do see potential in the remake, though much still needs to happen. The animations, sound, and various minor details are mentioned.
It would be helpful if the gameplay footage wasn't posted online without any commentary, but rather with some context. So far, however, neither the developer nor Konami has provided any such context, having only left a brief mention.
"A new trailer for SILENT HILL 2 puts the focus on the battles, which have evolved compared to the original game. Iconic monsters return, including the Bubble Head Nurses, the Mannequin, and more."

Disappointing start to Silent Hill
Things are hardly any better at the moment. Silent Hill: The Short Message away, which technically looks better, but in terms of content the game has little in common with it. Silent Hill to do. It deals with topics such as slander and bullying on social networks, which have become a problematic part of our society.
For GameSpot It is even advised against the free download, for which The Short Message like "a bad Silent Hill caricature".
"The short message is clearly meant to be understood and is devoid of any new elements. It leaves no room for interpretation, no sense of lingering mystery, and no strong impression on anyone playing a Silent Hill game for the first time. Unfortunately, the unintentional short message ultimately feels obvious."
GameSpot
Does the interactive feature remain? Silent Hill: Ascensionwhich was released last year. We hardly hear anything about it anymore, even though the project was intended to be long-term. The reviews at the time weren't very good either, and interest quickly waned.
It now appears that Silent Hill 2 It remains to be seen whether the series reboot will be successful or if it should be buried again. In this context, it might not be such a bad thing that there's no release date yet. Silent Hill 2 Remake There is. At best, this initial gameplay served to gather serious feedback.
What did you think of the gameplay in Silent Hill 2?

So, I recently bought a Bloober Team game for Steam so I could create my own version of the company. I chose The Medium. And I think it's just cool.
Now I'm also very excited for the silent hill 2 remake.
I can't understand the text at all. I'm really looking forward to it and it looks exactly as I imagined it.
Sony should have tried to secure the rights and handed development over to capable hands. The visuals and especially the animations are abysmal! Bluepoint Games, for example, would have released gameplay footage after this development time that wouldn't be embarrassing. Bloober... you couldn't even drink yourself into enjoying that trailer...
I agree with you there, but Konami isn't stupid and they're not going to sell off the last of what they have left to use in their pachinko machines.
Oh, how beautiful the world is!
Xbox players can't sleep and hate everything and everyone, especially themselves for backing the wrong horse.
The PlayStation community is hotly debating a trailer, as if it's already a botched release. Rise of the Ronin was initially heavily criticized for its graphics, and now more people want it than Dragon's Dogma 2, which is released on the same day and boasts superior graphics (at 30fps).
Both the animation in Rise of the Ronin and the 30fps in Dragon's Dogma 2 are terrible. I think nowadays every game should have at least a 60fps option. If they're not able to offer that, then they should make the options as flexible as in the PC versions, so every user can adjust them to what they're willing to sacrifice to get 60fps. And another point: the animations in SH2 Remake look bad, but does that make the whole game worse? I don't think so. But if you decide to go third-person and make the combat system similar to the Resident Evil 2 Remake, then you shouldn't be surprised when you're compared to that king. And Resident Evil 4 Remake or Alan Wake 2 even have better animation and graphics than Resident Evil 2 Remake. And when you consider that we're talking about an established franchise and a newcomer that means something to many people, it's doubly disappointing.
First off, I have to say: I didn't think Layers of Fear was all that bad. However, the comparison to SH2 is a bit flawed: SH2 already exists, and it is and was a cult classic. Topping that was a mammoth task from the start. After seeing the trailer, Bloober should probably reconsider – I'd be embarrassed to even release a trailer like that. Just admit they overestimated themselves. I could respect that, and it's become very rare these days.
All of this was clear years ago when rumors started that Bloober was going to make this remake. So why is anyone surprised that it looks so awful and doesn't capture the atmosphere of the original at all?
Hating on principle isn't cool either. They've made some very atmospheric games. I was skeptical at first, especially about all the running around in Layers of Fear... but the games really build tension, are beautiful to look at, have a strong atmosphere with a special mood, and usually a cool story with clever ideas.
Observer was really cool, Blair Witch was better than the movies, Layers of Fear 2 was really good, story-wise too. I'd call Layers of Fear 1 the weakest game, but it wasn't bad. I haven't really played Medium yet. I had a lot of fun with all of them.
So for me, SH was never anything special.
................................. ..
Then you haven't played all the parts, or you're just not into those kinds of games xD
Soooo, I read something here about green blood?
Quite apart from the fact that this is supposed to represent the acid used by the opponents
It is sprayed
I don't understand at all why people have to talk down the game so much because of a trailer.
The game isn't even out yet and there's already criticism, man.
Above all, people always approach it with expectations as if it were a world first.
Anyone who sets their expectations too high is to blame themselves, that's my opinion.
Of course, this probably won't go in the same direction as the original, but it's a Silent Hill game, and it seems to me like it's going to be a pretty good game.
So don't judge before you've played the game, and if you like Silent Hill, then just look forward to it, for goodness' sake!
Because you can already tell from a trailer like that whether the animations and graphics are outdated and whether a certain basic atmosphere is present... I already said after the first gameplay trailer for Suicide Squad that it would be garbage, and that's been confirmed for me after playing through the story this weekend...
That's right. And this is something completely different from Suicide Squad.
You can't seriously compare a soulless live service game with comic graphics, loot gameplay, always-on requirement, micropayment, stupid humor, lousy gameplay and little story to a silent hill remake just because you don't like the animations and it doesn't look like the 10th unrealistic, run-of-the-mill game.
The Silent Hill 2 remake doesn't look bad at all. On the contrary, Bloober manages to capture the Silent Hill atmosphere perfectly.
Ugly is something else entirely. We're not talking about the latest Battlefield or any other game with awful graphics.
When James goes to the house, stands in the backyard, solves the puzzles with the safe, etc., nothing about that looks bad. Does every Sonor Hill game always have to be hated? Is it never good enough? It was the same with the last installments over 10 years ago. With other games (Sony/Microsoft, etc.), everything is always accepted without question.
Why not develop a game yourself first? Then you'll experience firsthand how difficult and complicated such a process can be.
I find this article more than outrageous. And cheeky. Why is the remake already being talked down? I watched the trailer and I think it's very good. What I did notice, though, is that one of the melodies doesn't really fit Silent Hill 2.
I'm definitely really looking forward to it. And I hope the graphics get improved. I've taken a look at it, and it doesn't really fit with Silent Hill. The whole game world is incredibly bright.
Well, I'm definitely really looking forward to it. And I have been since December 2022.
So this article is outrageous and cheeky, but you also think the graphics aren't that great, the music doesn't fit, and the game world is too bright. All things addressed in the article. Why is the article outrageous now? Because it calls a spade a spade? How should things be then, in your opinion? Everyone sugarcoats the world, and in the end, we only get served garbage because the developer has been lulled into false praise? These kinds of critical articles are precisely there to identify problems and see them as an opportunity for improvement. That's what the article suggests. Always immediately resorting to blanket condemnation is outrageous. We saw how many people, in their dependence on publishers, just suck up to them with IGN; one critical review of Suicide Squad, and you were immediately excluded from the game's reviews. What a wonderful world the publishers have created – NOT!
I was just giving my opinion. I'm really looking forward to the remake. And I just can't understand all the negativity, even though it's not even out yet. But that's usually how it is. First, it's all sarcastic. And then afterwards, "Oh, the game is great. Even better than the original." That's usually how it goes, and I know what I'm talking about.
I've played a lot of remakes, and afterwards the situation changed dramatically.
You not only expressed your opinion, but you also unjustly discredited the author's work, right in the first sentence, only to then bizarrely defend the gameplay shown using the same arguments. And that's simply not good.
I completely agree with what you're saying.
Regarding Suicide Squad, the press generally didn't receive any copies because they were afraid of bad reviews. That alone should be punished, as you already said.
