Konami and Genvid Entertainment are launching this year with Silent Hill: Ascension An interactive streaming experience where the player directly influences the plot. How this works has now been explained somewhat.
According to the Jacon Navok, CEO of Genvid Entertainment, is following the path already taken by interactive games such as Until Dawn or a The Dark Pictures series It has gone the same way, only with many more spectators acting live.
Each stream is linked to a decision, the schedule for which is announced before the broadcast. Anyone wishing to participate in each decision must log in daily, and can see which decision is coming up up to 24 hours in advance. When it comes to... “super important” Decisions can also be made several days in advance.
"So if you're an avid fan who wants to see everything, the most sensible thing to do is to log in once a day to check the available decisions and catch up on any you've missed."
You don't have to see everything live.
Since it's not possible to force every viewer to watch everything live, this approach is even recommended: tune in at least once a day to influence decisions via the QTEs.
Every 24 hours, a new community puzzle is released, the solution to which can influence decisions. These puzzles can be solved at any time or optionally retrieved from an archive.
Once a season has finished, it will be in the style of The Dark Pictures There will be a "what if" mini-season where the decisions are unlocked and can be made again.
"While the decisions made in the first playthrough are canonical, we will replay 'Ascension' after it ends and block the canonical decisions so that the audience can unlock the other outcomes. We call this the 'What If' mini-season."
Silent Hill: Ascension It starts in 2023.
