Sony has slightly altered the June releases for PlayStation Plus Extra as part of the Days of Play. Instead of releasing an entire list of new titles all at once, as usual, they will be released in stages. some bonus games now gradually over the course of the month.
The next big new addition is Skull and Bones From Ubisoft – a AAAA multiplayer adventure centered around naval battles and pirate life, now available for free to Extra and Premium subscribers. A perfect opportunity for buccaneers who have hesitated until now.
A troubled start, but not without potential.
Skull and Bones Long anticipated, repeatedly delayed, and finally released in February 2024 to mixed reviews, the game's development was marked by internal restructuring and concept changes, which were noticeably reflected in the final product. Nevertheless, Ubisoft has since released an impressive roadmap that includes improvements to balancing and the addition of new content. For those who hesitated at launch, its inclusion in the PS Plus Extras program is therefore a good opportunity to try the game without obligation.
In Skull and Bones Players take on the role of an aspiring pirate captain who must navigate an open, dynamic world in the Indian Ocean with a small ship and limited resources. The game is designed for multiplayer but can also be played solo. The core gameplay includes tactical naval battles, customizing your ship, trading, resource management, and missions from various factions.
The world of Skull and Bones The game is divided, meaning you regularly encounter other players – whether as allies or rivals. Co-op missions and PvP battles complement the gameplay, and tutorials and revamped systems have made getting started somewhat more accessible. Furthermore, Ubisoft has just recently the new content for Year 2 initiated.
Not a masterpiece, but worth a look.
Even if Skull and Bones While still not a universally acclaimed game, it has noticeably stabilized over the past few months. The title appeals primarily to players who enjoy strategic naval battles, resource management, and a long-term progression system – ideally in co-op. PS Plus Extra subscribers now have the opportunity to try the game without any additional risk. Those already interested in pirate settings and with a penchant for multiplayer gameplay might be pleasantly surprised – everyone else should at least give it a try before dismissing it.
