At Gamescom last week, attendees got a glimpse of 'Skyrim VR', which in its current state is anything but convincing. Publisher Bethesda is already facing a lot of criticism for allegedly trying to squeeze every last penny out of the game, and 'Skyrim VR' offers a chance to disprove this.
Reading through some of the impressions of the demo, it's clear the game has been significantly scaled back. For example, the point-to-point movement is criticized, as it lacks a sense of freedom. The combat system also seems far from optimal; the enemy AI hasn't been adapted to the VR version, and instead of facing 10 opponents, the number has been reduced to just one, thus making the game world feel smaller. "feels very simplified and empty" should.
Also, for those who are concerned: my experience with the Skyrim VR demo was a hot mess. An absolutely complete dumpster fire of a VR port.

Ultimately, it's recommended that the game be called 'Elder Scrolls VR' and not compared to Skyrim, as the differences seem quite significant and true Skyrim fans might be disappointed. However, it should be noted that this is an early demo of the game, which is still in development. How much more can be achieved by the time of its release this fall remains to be seen.
