Following the highly praised campaign in 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare', developer Sledgehammer Games will continue to focus on strong women in their games.
It still seems to be generally considered a risk when women lead a story in games, but Ilona's strong character in the Sledgehammer game clearly disproves this. Studio Head Michael Condrey said in this regard:
“We tried a lot in the studio to have strong women in our games. You see today that the role of women in the military is important, so we tried to portray them in Advanced Warfare in a way that we believe players want to experience. There are female gamers who want to develop games, there are female gamers in the military who are part of real combat around the world, ensuring our safety.”
At the same time, it is important to ensure that they receive the appropriate respect for their roles in the military. This is what has been attempted and will continue to be attempted.
According to the current schedule, the next game from Sledgehammer Games in the Call of Duty universe should be released towards the end of 2017.
