Temperatures are rising and summer 2024 is really getting underway. For those who want to spend it hopefully scorching hot with their PS5 and not miss out on that holiday feeling, we have 5 summery, hot gaming tips ready for you.
Temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius and a relaxing gaming session aren't mutually exclusive. Sometimes you simply take your PlayStation Portal, SteamDeck, etc., to the beach and enjoy the sun both in real life and virtually. The following five games are perfect for this, combining summer vibes with exciting action.
Dead Island 2
If any game truly embodies summer vibes, it's "Dead Island 2" by Dambuster. The zombie slasher starts with relaxing music on the beach, makes you sweat under the sun of Hell-A, and takes you to even more extreme territory with the latest DLC "SoLA" (our review) to a cool festival that couldn't be more fitting for the current time of year.
There is still exciting action and entertainment, as thousands of zombies and mutations stumble through Hell-A and want to get their hands on you, while in the background the mystery surrounding this apocalyptic outbreak must be solved.
Far Cry 6
You can still get a nice tropical feeling in "Far Cry 6" (our review), which takes you on a trip to South America amidst palm trees and breathtaking landscapes. If you ignore the revolution currently taking place there, the fictional state of Yara is a highly recommended destination.
Plenty of action is also on offer, because those who have soaked up enough sun can then dedicate themselves to overthrowing the dictator and “El Presidente” Antón Castillo and freeing the once flourishing country from his stranglehold.
Green Hell
For survival adventurers, a trip to the Amazon in "Green Hell" is a real insider tip. With nothing but your bare hands and your survival skills, you are dropped into the jungle and must then figure out how to get out alive.
"Green Hell" (our reviewIt's considered the toughest survival simulation on the market, where you not only have to contend with the jungle's natives, but pretty much everything that can pose a danger in the jungle – predators, spiders, poisonous plants, diseases. A somewhat different kind of vacation that will make you stronger and help you grow from the experience.
The Crew Motorfest
"The Crew Motorfest" also offers a summery theme with its setting on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Anyone who absolutely can't do without action will find it here, where they can get behind the wheel of hundreds of dream cars and explore the island's beauty through themed playlists or immerse themselves in the comprehensive car culture.
Beyond the races, drift races, or demolition derbies, the island can also be explored at your own pace in your favorite car to discover the most beautiful photo spots. Starting this fall, "The Crew Motorfest" will also feature... a brand new island to explore give, which Ubisoft announced at the Summer Game Fest a few days ago.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Released just this year, SEGA's "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth" was a genuine surprise hit, and even more surprisingly, it came with a perfect summer theme. With karaoke, beach vibes, and other leisure activities like fishing, the RPG is also the perfect way to get in the mood for hot days. Setting in Yokohama, the title also offers a welcome contrast to the western and southern destinations typically featured in other games.
