The success of Lightbox Interactive's last project, Starhawk, apparently fell far short of expectations, despite good reviews, which the game has received.

As a result, the company is now drawing consequences and ending its collaboration with Sony, as stated in an official statement:

"Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that it has mutually agreed to end its collaboration with Lightbox Interactive. We had a positive and long-standing partnership with this talented studio and wish them the best of luck in their next endeavor. Starhawk and Warhawk will continue to be supported by the Santa Monica Studio."

Previously, there were even rumors that the studio would be completely closed this week. While this is not the case, 24 employees will still have to leave their positions, as studio boss Dylan Jobe has now also confirmed.

The company will now have a small indie-style team to bring the next game to the iOS platform and no longer PlayStation 3.

"All the guys at Santa Monica and Sony Computer Entertainment are great people to work with.", said Jobe. “We had and will continue to have a great relationship with each and every one of them. Hell, the PlayStation is the reason I first dedicated myself to gaming. But now we're simply steering Lightbox Interactive in a new direction.”
