Sony promises the ultimate entertainment experience with the new PlayStation VR, featuring dramatic leaps in performance and interaction. Players will experience an even greater sense of presence and be able to immerse themselves even more deeply in their game worlds when they put on the new headset.

“We continue to innovate with our new VR system so our fans can continue to enjoy the unique experiences that PlayStation stands for. We’re using what we’ve learned since the launch of PSVR on PS4 to create a next-generation VR system that improves everything from resolution and field of view to tracking and input. It connects to PS5 with a single cable for easier setup and improved usability, while delivering a high-fidelity visual experience.”

A wireless headset is therefore still a long way off, which is certainly due to technical and cost reasons. The price has also consistently been a major obstacle to reaching the mass market.
