To LG Sony has now also released its New Bravia XR TV series for 2022 The new Bravia TVs, which are the first to use a QD-OLED model, were unveiled. Another highlight is the new Bravia Cam, designed to make the overall experience even more intuitive.
Anyone who recently purchased a 2021 XR model shouldn't worry; the new features aren't exactly groundbreaking. It was also a drawback that they're once again focusing on gaming and PS5-specific features that still aren't fully available. Typical Sony.
Furthermore, these functions can only be used if the PS5 is directly connected to a Bravia TV and no AVR/AVC, soundbar, or similar device is used in between. This applies to Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode, but ultimately, this solution is quite user-unfriendly.

Bravia XR 2022
New this year are the MASTER Series Z9K 8K and X95K 4K Mini LED TV models, the MASTER Series A95K, MASTER Series A90K and A80K 4K OLED, and the X90K 4K LED. Powered by the XR processor, the Z9K and X95K models utilize XR Backlight Master Drive technology for precise control of the Mini LED backlighting to achieve fantastic brightness. The world's first QD-OLED model can be seen as an intermediate step between OLED and Micro-LED, which are expected to eventually replace OLEDs.
"The result is an unprecedented dynamic range with brilliant highlights, impressively deep blacks and wonderfully realistic midtones with virtually no light reflections or halo effects."

The new Bravia Cam
The most exciting new feature is likely the Bravia Cam, which, among other things, detects the user's location to perfectly adjust the picture and sound to their position. The cam also offers gesture control, video chat functionality, and a host of other entertaining features. Whether it's compatible with last year's models is unclear. It must be purchased separately.

Finally, Sony's audio technologies were mentioned again, including Acoustic Surface Audio+ for OLED models and Acoustic Multi-Audio for LED models. Thanks to these technologies, the sound follows the action on the screen to bring every scene to life in an impressive way. However, the technology is quite similar and was already present in last year's models.
Further details about the new Sony Bravia TV models and more can be found on the official website.
UpdateExperts estimate the price of the new QD-OLED models at around $8.500 for relatively small screen sizes. Availability is also not expected until the end of the year. This means that for most people, these devices will likely remain a pipe dream for the time being.
