The free demo for "The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales" is now available for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The new action RPG from Team Asano directly addresses community feedback from the initial test run, allowing progress made during the demo to be incorporated into the final game.

Square Enix demonstrates how genuine community feedback works. Anyone who played the first test phase will immediately notice the changes. Elliot moves noticeably faster through the areas, as the sluggishness of his movement was a significant point of criticism in the forums.

The gameplay now feels more dynamic, with customization directly impacting the combat experience. An additional difficulty level will also ensure the necessary balance, appealing to both casual players and RPG veterans. With the June 18, 2026 release date approaching, the development studio is using the remaining time to further refine the combat system and its seven weapon types.

Why the time travel concept works

The combat system emphasizes flexibility. Elliot uses various weapons, such as the chain sickle, to pull enemies closer, while his companion Faie provides magical support. The new gameplay trailer highlights the structure of the game world, which spans four eras. Each era changes the visual design in the familiar HD-2D style and influences the behavior of the enemy hordes. The Maginite interface also allows players to customize each weapon to their individual playstyle. This provides the necessary depth that a modern action RPG requires.

Transferring save data is crucial for players. Nobody wants to invest hours only to start over at release. Philabieldia can be explored risk-free right now. While pre-order bonuses like the Brooch of Departure or the additional Maginite equipment speed up the start, they aren't essential for progressing in the game.

The adjustments to the movement speed show that the studio is taking players' concerns seriously. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium TalesIt won't reinvent the wheel, but the HD-2D design in an action setting works. Anyone who appreciates Team Asano's classic game design and is looking for a flexible combat system will find a solid entry in the genre here. It's not revolutionary, but the quality is there.

Is the increased running speed sufficient for you, or do you still see areas for improvement in the combat system?
