With the release of the latest film, 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker', the question now arises: what happens next? While the spin-offs of recent years have certainly been welcomed by fans, Disney says they don't want to oversaturate the franchise and are therefore foregoing annual releases.
A recent leak suggests that Star Wars will continue in some way, with the story being continued in a video game. This game is slated for release in 2021 and will be set roughly 400 years before the Skywalker Saga, during a period known as the High Republic. In addition to the new game, future films will likely also explore this era.
Project Luminous?
Internally, the new game is reportedly referred to as 'Project Luminous,' according to other sources. These sources also confirm that it is a new game. It remains unclear which platforms are being targeted or who is developing it. If the release date is to be met next year, the project should already be underway.
It is known in this context that Respawn (Star wars jedi) has received the commission for a new game, and the Star Wars project by EA Vancouver is still in development, which probably fits the timeline best.
However, there are no official statements from EA as the license holder or from Disney on this matter.
