EA and Motive Studios have revealed new details about Star Wars: Squadrons revealed. This is how the different classes and power management are presented today.

Each class has unique handling and features, but there are also some basic functions they all share. For example, every ship has primary weapons, countermeasures, hull equipment, propulsion, and two auxiliary capabilities (such as missiles or repair droids), although some starfighters also have shields.

There are a total of eight classes in the game, including:

  • T-65B X-wing starfighter
  • BTL-A4 Y-wing assault starfighter/bomber
  • RZ-1 A-wing interceptor
  • UT-60D U-wing starfighter/support craft
  • TIE/ln starfighter (“TIE fighter")
  • TIE/SA bomber (“TIE bomber")
  • TIE/in interceptor (“TIE interceptor")
  • TIE/rp reaper attack lander (“TIE reaper")

The advantage of this system is that if you know how to control one starfighter, you automatically know how to control all the others. The player can therefore focus on their energy systems and balance them to face any confrontation.

Power management is another core feature that allows you to redirect energy to a specific subsystem: propulsion, lasers, or shields. There will be times when you want to prioritize a particular system. Increasing the power redirected to a system improves its efficiency, while decreasing it reduces it. Players can choose between a basic, simplified, and advanced power management system, allowing for more precise control over how much energy flows to each subsystem.
