The space adventure "Starfield" is being enhanced with new display and performance modes, including a 60fps mode. However, the game will have to make some sacrifices to achieve this.
There is still hope that "Starfield" will eventually be released in an optimized form for PS5. Until then, the Xbox Series X|S version, which was initially still under development, will continue to be refined. was mocked, since the 30fps mode was declared to be the maximum possible for such a game.
However, Bethesda has now announced the biggest update for Starfield Since its release, the technical enhancements have been the most exciting new features. On the Xbox Series X, 60fps will be possible in Performance Mode, which can be found under "Framerate Target" and "Prioritize" in the display options. In Performance Mode, you can choose between 30, 40, and 60 frames per second, and there will also be an unlimited frame rate in conjunction with VRR, enabling up to 120Hz. The default setting in VRR mode is 40fps for a fully visual presentation. This should ultimately be the best option, provided you have a compatible TV.
Starfield: 60fps is only available with compromises.
Those without a TV that supports VRR can still choose between 30 and 60fps, although the latter requires some compromises. Bethesda already points out that this can lead to screen tearing, while simultaneously reducing the internal resolution, lighting effects, and scaling back details and special effects.
Based on the current situation and in-game action, the internal resolution will dynamically change regardless of the priority setting. Bethesda therefore recommends prioritizing performance when playing at 60 fps. Ultimately, this doesn't necessarily mean you're getting more out of "Starfield," but rather offering compromises that allow each player to experiment and find their optimal setup.
In addition to these technical enhancements, the update brings numerous new features, including an Extreme difficulty level, new fast travel options, new ship customization possibilities, and much more. Players are particularly excited about the confirmed landing vehicle.
The update is presented in more detail in the following video from Bethesda, which players are clearly excited about.

Sounds terrible, and that's for a game that's not even that great.
The fake 4 on the PS5 often bothers me... when everything in the distance becomes blurry and the image often just appears fuzzy and unclean.
Now it's even worse in Starfield... just to somehow reach 60fps... oh dear...
To put it in politically correct terms, it's like having to choose between one disease (30fps) or the other (60fps tearing).
Set 6 and continue optimizing; perhaps it will run smoothly in 10 years.
The supposedly "STRONGEST CONSOLE" in the world has to make compromises.
It's only good on paper. Not in practice. I haven't seen a game yet that comes close to the graphics of, say, Ghost of Tsushima or Horizon 2. Sure, Hellblade 2 looks amazing, but it's also very linear, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
