Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for the Like a Dragon-series (formerly Yakuza), officially announced the title of its upcoming game at this year's Summer Game Fest: Stranger Than HeavenThis means the project, which has so far been operating under the working title Project Century The game, which was first presented at the Game Awards 2024, is now more concrete – at least in terms of name.

Few details are known about the game itself so far. The only thing that is clear is: Stranger Than Heaven It takes place in 1915, presumably in Japan. Further information regarding the story, gameplay, or characters is currently unavailable. The central question of whether it's a spin-off or even a prequel to the... Like a DragonWhether this is a series or a completely new IP remains unanswered.

More questions than answers

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has not officially commented on how the game fits into its existing portfolio. The stylistic similarity to previous titles... Like a DragonWhile a game based on the studio's name is a logical choice, without concrete material much remains speculation. The World War I setting would certainly represent a stark contrast to the modern environments of the main series – a possible indication that they are taking a new creative direction.
