Who hasn't experienced them: relaxed gaming evenings with a larger group, where everyone sits scattered on or around the sofa like a motley crew, having to fight for their often uncomfortable spot. But there are now solutions that are much more comfortable and perfectly suited for these often spontaneous occasions. One of them is the new Flexispot XC-T2, which we took a closer look at.
While we recently dealt with the extremely comfortable Recliner X2 For those who have been preoccupied with this, the XC-T2 offers an even more practical and spontaneous approach. Flexispot describes it as a 3-in-1 sofa bed, but it has far more functions than one might initially expect. Personally, I see it as a better alternative to the classic beanbag chair, which, while popular and comfortable among gamers, can often be in the way or not something you want to be in view all the time. For me, the space-saving aspect was paramount—the ability to quickly have an extra seat that can then easily be put away again. Especially here in my rather small apartment in the East End, every extra centimeter is worth its weight in gold.
The Flexispot XC-T2 can do that.
The delivery of the XC-T2 was similar to that of a 60-inch TV, so quite manageable if the delivery service only came as far as the entrance of the apartment complex. The weight of around 11 kilograms was also no problem, and the usual assembly was unnecessary, as the XC-T2 arrived fully assembled and ready to use immediately.
That this is more than just a simple guest bed made of three sewn-together pieces of foam becomes clear as soon as you unpack it, because inside there's an adjustable backrest mechanism. This allows the XC-T2 to stand freely in the room and still be able to lean back without needing a wall for support. In total, there are five angle settings between 105° and 180° in the classic sitting position and with the backrest extended. The latter is a completely flat position, equivalent to a large seat cushion (for two people) on the floor. Additionally, the lower seat cushions can be extended further to either stretch out your legs in the classic sitting position or to provide even more seating space for three to four people, who then don't have to sit directly on the floor. Of course, the comfort decreases somewhat the flatter you sit.
And if the nights happen to stretch on longer than planned, the Flexispot XC-T2 can also be used as a classic guest bed with a maximum sleeping area of 220 x 68 cm, or, with the pillow function, still a respectable 175 x 68 cm. While it's still not a full-fledged king-size bed, it's perfectly adequate as a spontaneous solution and, with its 10 cm foam padding, certainly more comfortable than the hard floor. Of course, the XC-T2 can also be used for other purposes, such as a practical footrest.
Stylish and modern look
As mentioned before, my initial thought for the XC-T2 was that it should be space-saving and easy to put away. But now that it's here, I think that's not really necessary, because Flexispot offers more than just a "plain"-looking guest bed, especially in terms of design. The XC-T2 comes in two colors – gray and beige – with the gray being slightly darker than it appears on the product page. The contrasting strip of brown faux leather adds a modern and understated touch, which means that if you have enough space (base dimensions: 74 x 68 cm), you can leave this piece of furniture permanently in the room. Visually, it definitely fits in a living room, but is less suited to a typical teenager's apartment.
The fabric cover itself is somewhat firm, yet still soft and very comfortable to sit on. Inside are classic foam cushions, each with its own cover. The seams are also double-stitched, ensuring durability even over extended periods and with heavy use. Flexispot generally maintains high quality standards, and all the products we've tested in recent years have been flawless. We expect the same from the XC-T2. Cleaning is described as "easy," which includes removing the fabric cover. However, machine washing is likely not possible due to the synthetic leather. This synthetic leather is also stitched to the corners of the underside, preventing unnecessary wear and tear on the actual fabric cover.
All in all, the Flexispot XC-T2 offers much more than you might initially think. I, too, was surprised by its versatility, which I hadn't anticipated to this extent and which you only realize when you try it out. I've been using the seat for a few days now, and the XC-T2 has already become my favorite piece of furniture, whether for watching a movie, gaming, or a spontaneous get-together with friends where you don't want to spread everyone out on the hard floor.
